
Overview
Givino is an award-winning independent wine and gin shop based in Frome, Somerset — founded in 2022 by Jamie and Robbie, two passionate wine lovers who built a business around the produce they love most. The shop carries over 700 wines, ports, gins, rums, and whiskies, with a particular focus on Spanish, Portuguese, and English producers. The Frome store doubles as a cosy wine bar, hosting monthly tastings and self-guided wine flights. The Shopify store brings that same curated experience to customers across the UK.
The Challenge
Independent wine retailers competing online face a simple problem: the big players win on price and range, so curation and expertise have to do the work. Givino's edge is the knowledge and passion behind every bottle on the shelf — but that story wasn't coming through clearly enough online, and the product navigation wasn't helping customers find the right bottle quickly.
Our Approach
We built the store around Givino's personality and expertise. The founders' story and their genuine passion for Spanish, Portuguese, and English produce were brought to the front of the homepage, positioning the shop as a recommendation-driven destination rather than a catalogue. Product pages were enriched with tasting notes, food pairings, and regional context — turning browsing into discovery.
Navigation was rebuilt to help customers shop by region, style, and occasion without needing specialist knowledge. The wine club subscription was given greater prominence to drive recurring revenue. Free delivery thresholds were surfaced clearly to increase average order value.
