Heat Free Hair is a Black-owned hair extensions brand founded in 2012, created to give women with natural textures protective styles that don't require heat or chemical processing. With over 500,000 customers worldwide, factory-owned production ensuring ethical sourcing, and a range spanning clip-ins, wigs, wefts, and haircare, Heat Free Hair is the originator of the natural hair extensions movement — and a category leader in texture-specific extensions for 3B to 4C hair.
The Challenge
Hair extensions are a high-consideration purchase, especially for women with natural textures who have been let down by products that don't match or blend. Heat Free Hair's advantage is genuine — they own the factory, control every texture, and have 10+ years of proof — but the store wasn't converting that authority into first-time purchases at the rate the brand deserved.
Our Approach
We restructured the store around texture-matching as the primary purchase journey. The homepage led with the brand's founding story and its emotional core — celebrating natural hair, not concealing it — before guiding customers into a discovery flow organised by texture type and styling goal.
Product pages were rebuilt to communicate the factory ownership, chemical-free production, and texture-tailored care system as differentiators. The "help me choose" quiz was integrated into the browsing experience, and the haircare range was cross-sold within the extensions journey to increase order value. Mobile checkout was tightened throughout.
