
Overview
Plant Up (PlantMate) is a Swiss consumer technology brand building smart automated plant care systems for indoor plant lovers. Their flagship product uses four independent soil moisture sensors and precision water pumps to water up to four plants automatically — guided by real-time data rather than guesswork or timers. The companion app lets users monitor moisture levels, receive notifications, and manage settings remotely. It's built for the growing number of people who love plants but don't always have the time or memory to keep them alive.
The Challenge
Smart home gadgets face a specific eCommerce hurdle: the product needs to be explained before it can be sold. A photo of a device on a shelf doesn't communicate how it works, why it's better than a manual routine, or why Swiss precision engineering justifies the price. The store needed to do the work of a product demo — making the technology tangible and the value self-evident before the customer even reaches the product page.
Our Approach
We rebuilt the store around the customer's pain — the wilted plant returned to after a holiday, the daily watering routine squeezed into a busy morning — and positioned PlantMate as the simple, elegant solution. The homepage was designed around a visual demonstration of how the system works, walking customers through the sensors, pumps, and app in a way that made the purchase decision feel obvious.
Product pages were redesigned with step-by-step setup visuals, spec detail for technically curious buyers, and a 100-day guarantee prominently featured as the primary risk reversal. The app integration story was woven throughout to communicate long-term value. Mobile was fully optimised for a digitally native audience.
