Roots Barefoot is a footwear brand specializing in minimalist barefoot shoes that promote natural movement and long-term foot health. The brand serves a health-conscious audience who are already informed about barefoot footwear and actively looking for the right pair.
The challenge was converting a research-heavy buyer into a confident purchaser within a single store visit.
The Challenge
Barefoot footwear is a considered purchase. Buyers want to understand the benefits, find the right fit, and trust the brand before spending. The existing store wasn't built to support that journey. Collection pages were hard to navigate, product education was minimal, and the mobile experience was underperforming.
Our Approach
We restructured the store around the buyer's decision process. Educational content about barefoot movement and foot health was woven into the product experience rather than isolated in blog posts. Size guides, comparison tools, and benefit callouts were added to reduce pre-purchase anxiety.
Collection navigation was rebuilt for clarity, making it easy to browse by activity or fit preference. CRO improvements focused on product pages and the cart, where most barefoot footwear stores lose conversion.
