The brand is built around deep expertise and personal curation — the kind of considered recommendation you'd get from a trusted specialist, delivered online. Their range spans premier producers across Germany, France, Italy, and beyond, with a focus on quality, provenance, and the story behind every bottle.
The Challenge
Fine wine eCommerce lives or dies on trust and discoverability. Customers buying at a higher price point need the merchant's expertise to guide them — they want to understand why a bottle is worth what it costs, what it pairs with, and who made it. The existing store presented wine as a catalogue rather than a curated recommendation, and the merchant's personal expertise wasn't coming through in a way that justified the premium.
Our Approach
We rebuilt the store around the merchant's voice and knowledge. The curation story was brought to the front of the homepage — who selects the wines, how they're chosen, and what makes Wein Kontor Sommer different from a volume retailer. Product pages were enriched with tasting notes, producer stories, and food pairing guidance, turning each listing into a recommendation rather than a product card.
Navigation was restructured by region, grape variety, and occasion to match how experienced wine buyers actually think. Case discounts and gifting options were surfaced clearly to increase order value. Mobile performance was optimised throughout.
